The Centre consists of five main sections including Process Development, Phytochemical Standardization, Analytical/ Product Development, Pharmacology and Botany Sections.

The aim and objectives of the Analytical Chemistry, Process Development and Phytochemical Standardization Sections of the Centre are to evolve processes for the exploitation of medicinal plants of known therapeutic value, isolation of their active principles, to synthesize new drugs and undertake analysis of herbal pharmaceuticals. Pharmacological of herbal preparations and products for the development of cheap and relatively simple drugs is undertaken by the Pharmacology Section. Botany Section is engaged in taxonomic and pharmacognostic studies of useful plants of Pakistan.

Dimension Stone Centre was established under a PSDP project in 2008. The objective of the centre is contributing to the development of the national marble sector through HRD, R&D and fabrication of innovative stone products. The HRD is comprised of short courses of one month to one year duration. The sub-sector covered through these courses include Mining, Chain of Value Addition and Marking of marble and granite. These courses have been designed for Middle and SSC level left outs of our educational hierarchy mostly belonging to down-trodden and marginalized sections of the society. The passed-out trainees so far from the centre are youth from FATA, Baluchistan and KPK.

The Dimension Stones (Marble & Granite) constitute a very prospective sector of the national mineral wealth, probably second to petroleum; in terms of intensity and extensity of investment, jobs creation, export and trade upto the level of self-employment by investing a few thousand rupees. This sector is open to the full fabric of the society, irrespective of gender discrimination; through SMEs of marble sector in mining, a complete chain of value addition and trade (including export) as well as in a soft and artistic touch of the sector in the shape of Stone Mosaic. This first ever public sector centre of dimension stones is hoped to play a vital role in furthering the manoeuvrability of all these disciplines of this sector to achieve a respectable space for Pakistan on the world stone map through strengthening and capacity building of a competitive international standard.

Dimension Stones Centre is having the following facilities:

                            • Chemical Lab
